A Very Good copy in paper-covered boards and cloth spine, in a price-clipped Very Good dust jacket with a short tear at the bottom edge of the rear panel.Tanning at the outer edges of the text block, vertical crease to the front endpaper, tight and clean within. A photo-copy of a three-page letter from the prior owner to the author, with his World War II memories, is laid in. Also laid in is a short one-page typed letter in response signed by author William Manchester, in the original envelope.
